Chiane’s lowest point over

Good evening all,

Chiane is doing a little bit better. She is still in A LOT OF pain but her moral is better. We are past day 10, and we are hoping to see a slow but steady positive climb in her blood counts.

She is constantly receiving platelet transfusions, GCSF, red blood cell transfusions and plasmas.

Her mouth is still ok, but her throat and chest are still full of mucositis.

Her skin looks very very good, although extremely dark in certain places, it hasn’t torn or broken. She did not vomit today which is a very positive sign.

The good news is…Latest ultra sounds have shown that Chiane hasn”t got appendicitis.

It looks like an operation is not needed and that her appendix is fine, although infected and inflamed. The doctors think Chiane has typhlitis. Typhlitis symptoms are just like appendicitis. Typhlitis is infected and inflamed gut etc. Chiane is now receiving loads of antibiotics, anti-fungal and antiviral IV treatment.

We are working extremely hard to keep Chiane “mentally sane” as she has now been in isolation and connected to machines for just over 2 weeks. It’s tough on her we can see it, but she is not complaining. We work hard to keep her moral and her spirit high. Below is Chiane, relaxing in a nice warm bath… soaking and having a quiet moment by herself.

Thank you to all who are praying for Chiane… It is much needed!

We kindly want to make everyone aware that we receive on a daily basis, literally thousands of emails. Please please do not be offended if we don’t reply. It’s just physically impossible for us to reply to every email and give Chiane the care she requires. We do reply to some when we have a moment to spare, but we get more emails than ever before – thank you for understanding and please continue to send emails!

Last but not least, some will remember about 2 other children I mentioned in December, 2 girls with the same cancer as Chiane and that Kiwi past away in December. Well, Charlotte from Canada has now gone to heaven too…
Charlotte’s mom, Allison has written these beautiful words that I want to share with you and I’m quoting from Charlotte’s website:

“A quote came to my mind as she was passing. Some wonderful scripture? A wise mans words? No. It was from one of Charlotte’s favourite movies, Winnie the Pooh. At first I thought it was something that I wanted to tell her, but after I realized that maybe it was something she wanted to tell all of us.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
(Please feel free to send them a support email on their website…)

Rob and Allison, we share your pain and we wish you all the best for the future…may you find peace in your hearts… Charlotte is in no pain… No more…we are sorry for your loss and can’t imagine the pain you must experience
